Art Jam - 16th March 2011 @ ION Orchard

"My Art Space" held its first outdoor Art Jamming Session at ION Orchard two days ago.
It was interesting to be painting at a location where I would normally be shopping.
The stretch of Orchard Road holds special memories for me because I spent my first twelve years growing up at Cairnhill Road. Number 106, Cairnhill Road. Basically, my maternal family's roots started there.

Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with something satisfying that night.
Nevertheless, I basked in the beauty of the other art jammers' works. They are really good!

Art Jam - 26th February 2011

I had a "miss" piece this jam.
Beginning to feel a bit deflated because I seem to have one good piece and three or four misses in between. =(
How do I become such that I can produce a good piece every time?

Art Jam - 26th February 2011

I was so glad I asked the artist if he could elaborate to me his concept; which he did of course.

He said, he was trying to express his feelings about many things being too commercialized and that one day, you can express anything with just numbers.
What you could do (with his picture) is that you can just fill out the colours that have been prescribed with a number and a painting could be born with no originality.

Did you know there are really templates like these of classic pieces out there?
Sad, isn't it?

The portrait on the left was the winning piece for the night.

This is such a cute, pop piece.

Art Jam - 26th February 2011

This piece received special mention from a senior artist (John).
He said that art could always do with some humour.

Several people voted for this silhouette landscape piece.

This artist was trying to show a transition from simple "old" form to a contemporary "modern" form.

This lady was overjoyed when I asked her "do you have a line of people walking into the light?"
She said that many people couldn't see it and asked her what the blob was, hence, she was just glad that another person besides herself could get what she was doing. (haha).

Art Jam - 26th February 2011

I gave my vote to this, I liked that I can feel depth of the bouquet and how the flowers are exploding.

The artist couldn't quite figure out what she has and asked what I saw.
I see it as a waterfall in a forest.

Art Jamming - 25th September 2O1O

This piece actually looks nicer in real than in photo. In fact, it is by far one of my most satisfying piece from art jamming. I am glad I'm finally satisfied with myself. As soon as I've reached home, this floral depiction took to the walls of my common area. I hope to grow more art-confidence in myself after tonight.

Art Jamming - 25th September 2O1O

June is my colleague. She asked me several times about the art lessons I was having at My Art Space earlier this year and I've encourage her to pursue it since she's so keen. Much to both our delight, she is an above average painter, given the feedback from our coach and the two other oil pieces she's shown me.

Tonight, she has painted something I feel quite difficult but she's attempted it nevertheless. It is good that we have the adventurous spirit to attempt even when we may not be confident about it. Because we will only learn with doing.

A High Contrast Day Break.
(look at the reference picture above the painting)

Art Jamming - 25th September 2O1O

This lady has only attempted art jamiing the first time and she just picked up a brochure for reference and came up with this! She humbily said she "copied" it, since the original painting was featured in the brochure and she basically reproduced it.

This month, there were three winners!
A "meadow" theme piece also won.

One Beautiful piece.
Many people did the skyline this evening and this is one of the nicest one I see.

Juicy

This artist was inspired after watching the movie - "Wallstreet" (part 2)

Exhibition - July 2O1O

I really like this piece - entitled "Flow"
Artist- Benison Chung.
It is going for SGD 900 and I wish to buy it!

Art Jamming - July 30th 2O1O

Winner for the night!

Everyone said it was seemingly "dark" but has optimism.

Art Jamming - July 30th 2O1O

These two had a tie. Same number of votes and are both first runner ups.
Same floral theme but done differently.
My vote went to the second one here, full garden bloom.

We were all trying to figure out the animals.
Finally, met the artist and it all made sense..... Pokemon.
He wants to paint something for his bedroom and so, this is it.

Art Jamming - July 30th 2O1O

Tony's signature pieces. He has just completed his exhibition and has sold three of his paintings. Good for him!

This one reminds me of the movie - "Inception" which I want to watch but have not.
I didn't get a chance to see the artist, I want to ask him/her if he painted the building upside down or if he rotated the canvas. Had he painted it upside down, I would think that's impressive.

Art Jamming - June 2010

Okay, this is not a very good piece (from me) but I will show it anyway.

It is entitled - "Hush! My Lady", referring to what my friend said to me when I rattled off about some grievances. I take comfort in her soft but assuring words.

Everything written or drawn on it is my private thought and wouldn't make sense to anyone, I suppose.....

It has my baby's favourite phrase-of-the-moment: "oh oh oh", my goals, Ip Man 2 (the movie), my work, my plans, my games, my wedding anniversary, my baby's haircut, Val's baby, my helper, my issues, and it also asks: "can we ever commission anyone to live your life?" (*sic- grammatically incorrect)....

Sounds terrible.

No Fear

Is that Fear in her eyes?
Or doubt?
Or uncertainty?
This is another good contender of that night.
Well, we really are just having fun painting but the quality of the ad-hoc pieces are really something don't you think so?

Sun Rise

They say it's sunset, I say it's sunrise.

Pardon the resolution, I forgot my camera and used the mobile phone camera, the actual painting is much better than what you see here.
That night was really a hard-fight night, I gave my vote to this piece.
There were many good pieces.
I have always been more than surprised with many unexpected good paintings that came out in under 3 hours.

An Angel

Another of his signature "dark" theme, from the "Kill Bill" artist.

Apparently, he's an architect by profession.

We don't talk much but I do like his pieces.
